Sol Blue

August 2nd, 2010 0 Comments

C2 Development, Inc. President Chris Clough announced today the immediate release of the highly anticipated AI Sol Blue, the next logical step in development of the high quality AI (AquaIllumination) line of LED lighting. Formerly known as the AI Modular LED System, the AI Sol line represents the best in LED technology designed specifically for the reef aquarium consumer.

“The new Sol Blue is an exciting update for our product line, and is a solution that we are confident will quickly gain acceptance amongst the most demanding consumer. By including the combination of Cree XP-E Blue and Royal Blue LED’s, we can better meet the deeper blue light spectrum demanded by Reef enthusiasts. The XP-E’s do an incredible job of covering the 450-465 nm range, while still producing comparable PAR values to our AI Sol White.”

“As we develop new products, our focus is on the desires of our consumers. We know that consumers love the control and modularity of the AI Sol, but they were looking for a spectrum of blues that brings out the best in their corals. During the development of the product we made sure that the color combination of the Sol Blue met the demands of the serious enthusiast, and I can say that we have succeeded.”

The AI Sol Blue will begin shipping immediately and will be available both online and at dealers across North America. Orders may be placed with dealers. Existing customer that wish to add some extra color to their Sol White modules may do so by purchasing directly through C2.

PAR Test Data – Redux + AA Article

May 16th, 2010 0 Comments

We updated web servers a few months ago, and some of our image paths were broken. Back by popular demand…

Also – check out Dr. Sanjay Joshi’s article in this month’s Advanced Aquarist where he tests the AI LED Module in a similar fashion as we did.

It’s been a long time coming, but here is PAR test data from our lab. The data was taken in open air on our in-house scanning system. We used a Apogee Instruments Model SQ-110 Quantum Meter with data points every 0.25 inch.

The distance from the bottom of each light is 19 inches.

AI LED Module
The Module was ran at 100% on both white and blue emitters, consuming roughly 74W from the wall.

250W Metal Halide
The metal halide setup consisted of a Phoenix 14000K 250W Double Ended bulb, in a Sunlight Supply LumenMax 3 Reflector, with a Sunlight Supply Galaxy 250W electronic ballast. This setup consumed just shy of 280W once warmed up.

Beta Firmware Release

February 19th, 2010 0 Comments

We are proud to announce the beta software release of the newest version of the AI System Controller, version 3.0b.  Version 3.0b  allows the user to independently control both blue and white illumination channels up to 8 set point times throughout day.

No longer are users limited to only sunset/sunrise controls but now they can illuminate their System on their own schedule.  Users may now control their system to gradually ramp to different white and blue intensities throughout the day by controlling the time and duration of each set point.  The Controller still maintains the manual mode which allows users to select both blue and white intensities in real time with a turn of the knob.

We are opening up this software as a beta release to get user feedback.  While we have performed extensive testing in our labs, the true test is how the software works out in the field and we appreciate your help in this.  To receive the beta software, please create a support ticket under Support and select the Beta Test Request Help Topic.

Warranty Registration

January 12th, 2010 0 Comments

As more and more Systems are sent out into the wild we wanted to remind you that you need to register your System to receive the extended warranty of one year. Unregistered Systems carry only a warranty of 90 days.

You can register your warranty by clicking on the SUPPORT tab at the top of the page and by clicking on the WARRANTY REGISTRATION link or by clicking this link.

If you ordered a controller with your System purchase, you may not have received a 12 ft data cable as they were not in stock at the time we began shipping. If you would like to receive one, please create a support ticket with your request for this cable.

We appreciate your support and hope you are enjoying your AquaIllumination Modular LED System.

AI Shipping Update

December 17th, 2009 0 Comments

Greetings from AquaIllumination -

We have had a busy week here and are excited to say that we have begun shipping the new AquaIllumination modules. We are working hard to ship modules out as fast as we can, but we have an extensive back order list and appreciate your continued patience as you wait for your modules.

We will update the site with more pictures and test results as soon as we can. We know you will be as excited as we are to see the modules in action.

Again, thank you for your patience and we appreciate your interest in the AI Modular LED System.

Status Update

November 29th, 2009 0 Comments

We appreciate everyone’s patience and apologize for our delay in blogging. We have been hard at work finishing up the new and completely redesigned AI LED Modules.

The good news is our new modules utilize a new lens system designed specifically for AI and the newly released Cree XP-G LEDs. The modules produce higher peak PAR values, wider light distribution and use approximately 20% less energy than our previous modules (retrofit kits containing the new bulbs and lenses will be available for prior AI modules).

The tests we have been performing with the new modules have exceeded our expectations and we are very excited to get these out in the aquarium world. We are in the final production stages and expect to have the new modules available for shipment around December 15. We know that you have been waiting for these modules and we appreciate everyone’s patience. Head on over to ReefGeek.com now or visit the Purchase link above to pre-order your module today.

Stay tuned for updated module pictures and finalized specifications.

Again, thank you for your patience and we appreciate your interest in the AI Modular LED system.

PFO Solaris Upgrades/Fixes

September 1st, 2009 0 Comments

For some time we have been working on revised parts for the Solaris LED systems. We have revised the power supply circuitry, the LED drive circuitry, and the LED assemblies making the unit work better than new.

From our testing of various Solaris units, we ended up replacing the majority of the LED assemblies as well all of the power circuitry.

At the end of the day, purchasing a new AI Modular LED System ends up being virtually the same cost without the time and frustration of repairing the Solaris.
